The Amazing New Adventures of Larry and Mark - Peru, Land of the Incas

Chapter 41 A

 Wayna Picchu

You've already seen this picture, so what's

the big deal?  Surely not because I keep

spelling it in different ways.  The peak in

the background of the photo from last chapter

may not be as high, but it makes up for it in steeps.

Wayna Picchu means "new peak."  This sharp peak is the background

of all the  panoramic photos of Machu Picchu.

When you start to look closer at this peak, you see that the ancient Andeans called

the Inca actually built on the top of this peak!  There are actually terraces built up the

steep sides of this peak.  How many men must have been lost building this?

If you read enough books before you go on a trip like this, you see that

you have to come back with a photo like this!

However many thousands of people have stopped here for a photo

opportunity, I had to have one of my own!

Next:  Fasten your seatbelt!
